Time out Tune in _ South Africa

Back to nature, back to yourself

Time out Tune in, retreat in South Africa

Do you feel like you need a break to focus on yourself, and get inspired by nature around you? Our self-development program in South Africa offers you the opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself in a natural environment and engage in a coaching program to help you (re)define the guidelines of your life.

Our retreat is based on a one-week stay within a small group of participants (5 max), in a lodge in the middle of a wildlife reserve, member of the famous Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa. We will combine exploration and introspection through game drives (every morning and evening) as well as individual and group coaching sessions. This stay in Africa will be completed by an individual and group session with the participants before and after the journey.

Space and peace for reflection

The program will be led by myself, Elleke Kleinhout; my personal and professional experience has convinced me that we can develop an exploration/introspection dynamic at any moment in life, to (re)create a path that suits us best. Since 2014, I’ve been combining my work as a psychologist with the therapeutic effects of nature. I work outside with people on a regular basis, to help them slow down, observe and reconnect with their senses. Then we can start looking at what’s going on inside, on a psychological and emotional level. I’ve seen the therapeutic potential of this method many times, and I’ve been wishing to transpose this experience to South Africa, the best place to reconnect to something bigger than yourself. In the nature reserve, the feeling of space stretches out, the pace slows down and your perceptions are transformed by everything that lives around you.

Laura and Mike Joseph, owners of Muweti Bush Lodge, crossed my path in 2014, literally and figuratively, during my first trip to South Africa. This initial meeting transformed into a beautiful friendship, and Time out Tune in is based on our common values: respect for nature, openness to others and sharing experiences.

This project started to emerge in the last months of 2019; the context that arose in 2020 with the coronavirus gave an extra dimension to it. Lots of us were (more consciously) confronted with the life we built for ourselves. Life environment, relationships, work, rhythm, choices and dreams were enlightened a little more brightly. This reinforced the idea to offer the experience of the South African bush as a basis for self-development.
